It’s Jessie from Coldwell Banker Real Estate Group with another piece of local charm to share with my friends and neighbors.

Most towns are all about their main street. But in Wheaton, the real magic is in the alleyways.

If you’ve only ever walked along Front Street or Main Street, you’re missing out on some of the coolest spots in town. I was showing a condo downtown last week and took a walk through the alleys afterward, and it reminded me how unique Wheaton is.

Instead of dumpsters and loading docks, you'll find:

  • Secret Patios: Hidden outdoor seating for restaurants like Ivy & Moveable Feast.

  • Quirky Art: Murals and sculptures tucked away in unexpected corners.

  • Cody Entrances: The back doors of some of the best local shops and cafes like Five & Hoek feel like you're discovering a secret club.

It's a perfect example of how a community can transform a purely functional space into something charming and full of character. It's one of those little details that makes Wheaton, well, Wheaton.

Next time you're in downtown, take a detour down an alley. You'll be surprised what you find!
