What spring starts to look like in our Western Suburbs

Spring always seems to arrive gradually here. One week it is heavy coats and gray skies, and the next week there are families out walking downtown, patios opening up, and that feeling that the whole area is waking back up again. One of the things I appreciate most about our part of the western suburbs is that every town has its own version of spring energy, but all of them feel connected.
In Lombard, the lead-up to Lilac Time is one of those unmistakable signs that the season has turned. In Glen Ellyn and Wheaton, spring tends to bring people back outdoors in a big way, whether that means a walk near Lake Ellyn, a stop in a local coffee shop, or a weekend visit to one of the parks, shops, or restaurants that make those downtowns so easy to love. Cruise nights and summer concert series in Carol Stream and Roselle kick off in late spring, as well, to fully envelope the season's social events. And let's not forget about the beginning of outdoor markets! Even if you are not moving anywhere, it is the kind of season that reminds you why people stay rooted here for so long.

I love keeping up with what is happening around our local communities, so I keep a full events list on my website for anyone who wants an easy way to find things to do around the suburbs. It includes upcoming local events, seasonal favorites, and direct links for more information if something catches your eye.

If you have a favorite spring tradition anywhere in DuPage or nearby Cook County, send it my way. I always enjoy hearing the places and routines people look forward to most each year.
